So I’m just finishing up my 4th week on the South Beach Diet. The good news: 14 lbs gone. The bad news: is there any bad news? Not really!
It’s really shockingly easy. Last week at my writing group I found myself very tempted by a box of Little Schoolboy cookies. They are my favorite cookies to be found in any store, and I have been known to consume many of them at one time. They were sitting in front of me, less then two feet away, for a period of three hours. I did not eat one. I did enjoy several handfuls of nuts, but that is okay. (well, sort of okay. we’re supposed to only have 15) Plus some carrots (YAY! they were forbidden on phase one) with some luscious artichoke lemon stuff.
I am such a carboholic (me?? go without RICE?) I did not think this would ever be possible. But so far, so good. I was so very cranky and depressed when I started this, and I had no faith that I would last 24 hours. But I have. And it’s really okay. More than okay. My dear husband has started COOKING which is a pleasure that some how eluded him for the past twenty or so years. But he’s into it; he likes fooling around with the Ingredients of Choice. And I think that’s great. I just discovered a fabulous food blogger who specializes in SBD recipes, and it had me very excited.
I wrote a little post about the Joy of Pork Loin over on Muffin Top. Alas, I think the days of Mega Chocolate Cake are over, but maybe when it’s somebody’s birthday….

Congratulations, Susan! That’s fantastic. And
little Schoolboys are my favorite cookies, too. I don’t know if I could have resisted.

Your earlier blog regarding the South Beach Diet inspired me since my weight is always going up and down and at the moment is up. I’m impressed that you have given up rice since I know that it is an almost every night staple in your household. I’m waiting for that moment when I want to diet more than I want to eat. Not quite there yet. Keep up the good work and keep being an inspriation!
