Being a writer is hard. It’s damn hard. And I’ve had lots of good company slogging it out through endless rejections, disappointments and bad news.
But this week, the Writing Gods seem to be smiling down. And I am truly happy for these people. Because it gives me great hope that one day, I too will have news like this.
- The wonderful Nova just heard that her novel is getting published! This news is particularly sweet, coming right on the heels of much disappointment.
- Michelle Richmond’s The Year of Fog just made the New York Times Bestseller List!
- Another writer friend of mine, who has also had disappointments in the past, just won the Bakeless Prize! Her book is going to be published! (I’m not saying her name yet because she hasn’t announced it yet)
I am really happy for all of them. I feel hopeful.

Thank you so much for this wonderful post and for your encouragement this whole time! I admit I am in shock for myself, but when I think of you, I have complete faith you will one day soon have great news to share. I know it.

This is such great news — I’m thrilled for all three! It’s your turn soon, Susan. VERY soon. (And, I hope… mine too!)
