So I haven’t been doing a very good job of keeping this blog going.. sorry! but as I was going through my iPhoto pictures, I thought about doing a photo log like I’ve seen other bloggers do. Here’s a little recap of what’s been happening this past month.
I was so excited to be chosen by the Diabetes Hands Foundation to represent healthy active diabetic people doing the Big Blue Test! They took video of us running on the Golden Gate Bridge. You can see the finished product here - SO awesome!

Oct 28: Last chance workout: conquering open water fear at Lake Temescal with the awesome sports psychologist
That was October. A total whirlwind of workouts and busy daughters.
I thought about doing NaNoWriMo for about five minutes this year. I miss writing something awful. But.. it’s not my year for it. 2012! YES!

Hi Susan…I am also an adoptee who has had a wonderful family etc but I DO understand the situation that —no matter how much you love , and are loved by your adoptive family–you feel a disconnectedness with a part of yourself , and therefore a lack of ‘wholeness’.
I live in Berkeley and am wondering if you’d like to chat sometime.
I have 3 grown kids and a husband of many years and am very happy with my life. I just hate to see people trying to ‘sweep adoption under the carpet’– as though it’s only ‘the maladjusted wierdos’ who may want to actually know about their genetic origins! We all are discovering more and more about what comes through the genes–not only medically , but even aptitudes, disposition,–of course appearance!…and more.
Also , I am seeing some of my friends who have adopted children themselves seemingly a bit confused and challenged by some aspects of this. I would like to help somehow…to possibly allieviate some of the angst and secrecy–without it being a ‘threat’ to anyone.
I’m wondering what organizations you may have worked with , or are in connection with…This is NOT just to “search” –as actually I have already “found” –but to try to do something for others in our situation–and to perhaps raise awareness of this rather ‘complicated’ scenario…AND …ultimately, to perhaps CHANGE the policies of adoption and even sperm and egg donation anonymity. The basic fact is that … the ‘babies’ do grow up–and what should their rights be as adults.
What do you think?
Sincerely,

P.s. I am a retired Landscape Architect….and…I also did a ‘mini-triathelon ‘a few years ago…..I am also interested in the written word
